News: ISLAND ARE CHAMPIONS
Posted by Chris Skinner, Posted: Thu Sep 29, 2011

Another awesome season for Island CCC saw them convinvingly take the NELCL title all for themselves, a prize they shared with London Fields last season.

Winning 9 of their 10 matches (with one ruined by the weather) they were a class above the rest of the opposition this season, leaving the rest to fight it out for the remaining positions. London Fields finished 2nd with 5 wins and a match improved Victoria Park Juniors finished a strong 3rd. Newcomers Stoke Newington managed 4th place, leaving Coach & Horses and Royal Sovereign to prop up the table.

News: NELCL RESULTS 9TH JULY
Posted by Chris Skinner, Posted: Sun Jul 17, 2011

One man made all the difference as undefeated Island CCC continued their march to the title with a heavy win over London Fields CC. Shishir Ahmed stole the show from the outset, hitting 111 against a well drilled London Fields attack. No other batsman scored more than 15, with the team bowled out for a competitive 199. Any hopes in the LFCC camp that they might chase the target down were soon dismissed when Ahmed picked up the ball, running through the batting line up with 5 wickets. London Fields were all out for 75 runs, and left wondering where on earth this player had come from and what he was doing in a community cricket league.

It was a much closer affair at Springfield Park where Victoria Park Juniors recorded a 7 wicket victory over Coach and Horses. Coach batted first and scored 168 with Rahman (58) the top scorer. Shakil Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with 3/13, as VPJ slammed on the brakes after Coach had been 106/1. Ahmed then completed a strong all round performance with 77 not out, supported by 38 from Joe Fisher as VPJ chased the total down with 7 wickets to spare.

At Millfields, Royal Sovereign batted their way to an impressive 208/5 from their 36 overs, Ian and Nick both recording half centuries. The improving Stoke Newington side fought back in stunning style, taking 30 runs off the 2nd over alone and chasing the total down in just 25 overs for the loss of one wicket. Dani scored a thumping 127, including six 6's.
