| The NELCL AGM was held on 25th November at Pub On The Park, Hackney. All clubs provided a rep except Island who sent their apologies, as did Treasurer Paul Turley.
The highlights...
FIXTURES:
Jon Schnadhorst will draw up a fixture list. The league will run from the end of April to the end of September, with an August break for holidays and Ramadan
PITCHES:
Chris skinner will ask the groundsman to prepare central pitches...especially at London Fields
UMPIRING:
It has been discussed that umpiring was not at a good enough level last season, with very few decisions generally being given. It is a priority that the team captains ensure that the umpires act as fairly and independantly as possible.
The league rules are being amended to reflect new guidelines.
RESPECT:
There was too much persistent sledging in the last year. The batsman should be got out by the bowlers ability to bowl, or a fielders ability to field, not by constant jibes directed at the batsman by the fielding team. This doesn't meant that you cannot talk, and encourage the bowler, but please try to keep it within limits. Just because they do it on TV, doesn't mean we have to do it on a Saturday afternoon!
SCORING:
Each team captain must ensure that the scoring is done properly, with full bowling and batting figures.
See the league rules soon for more info.
EQUIPMENT:
Teams are reminded they have to bring appropriate equipment to games. More info in the league rules section soon.
BALLS:
Chris Skinner is going to look into the possibility of bulk buying one type of ball which would be distributed to all teams.
PITCHES:
Pitches are £69 for 2010 (a sharp rise), we are going to write a letter to the council asking for a discount due to our heavy usage of the pitches.
RESULTS:
It is the WINNING teams responsibity to submit the match scores and results within 7 days of the match being played. There is a 1 Point deduction if you fail to do this
In the event of a tie or draw or rained off match it is the responsibility of both teams, or the same fine applies
They need to be submitted to Chris Skinner, who will provide a template.
MATCH START TIMES:
The toss is at 1.45. If you are not ready to toss at this time you automatically forfiet the toss to the opposing team.
The match starts at 2pm Sharp. If you are not ready to start at this time then you lose 1 over per 5 minutes.
RAIN:
A match is considered active if 15 overs of the second innings has been bowled. After this run rates are used to work out results.
If both Captains feel that it is unlikely that a full match can be played then they can agree to play a reduced overs match. This might occur on a day when you are fairly sure that the heavans will open later in the afternoon. Weather forecasts are reliablish, so please use your own common sense
CHAIRMAN:
Jon Schnadhorst of the Coach and Horses has been voted League Chairman for 2010.
A very succesful meeting, finished in just an hour. Thanks to all who attended.
